How to replace an ozonator with a UV-C disinfection system?
Since July 1, 2024, a new European regulation strictly regulates the use of ozone generators. These devices, now subject to the EU Biocidal Products Regulation, can no longer be sold within the European Union.
To ensure clean and disinfected water in your spa, we recommend replacing your ozone generator with a UV-C disinfection system.
Why Choose a UV-C Lamp?
UV-C disinfection systems are an effective and environmentally friendly alternative. They efficiently sanitize spa water by eliminating bacteria, viruses, and microorganisms while significantly reducing the need for chlorine, bromine, and other chemicals.
Installation: Replace Your Ozone Generator with a UV-C Lamp
Installing a UV-C lamp is simple and can be done in place of the existing ozone injector in your spa’s plumbing.
For optimal installation, we recommend completely draining your spa before proceeding and ensuring that the plumbing system is clean and ready for the new lamp.
We offer three UV-C lamp models suitable for spas:
Installation Steps: Adjusting Your UV-C Lamp to Your System
There are two possible configurations for installing a UV-C lamp in your spa.
1. With a circulation pump
Locate the ozone injector in your spa’s plumbing. Remove it and install the UV lamp using a ¾-inch fitting.
Adjust the plumbing if necessary:
- If the hose is too short, use couplers, clamps, and glue to extend it.
- Ensure everything is securely fastened to maintain a watertight seal.
2. With a two-speed pump
The process is similar to a circulation pump, but you will need to add valves or create a bypass system to prevent excessive pressure or flow from damaging the UV lamp.
Installing a UV lamp on a two-speed pump can be more technical. If you have any doubts, feel free to contact us and send photos of your setup. We’ll be happy to advise you and find the best solution for your system.
