Is there a scary-looking error message on your Gecko keyboard that you don't understand? Here is a rundown of the main error messages you might get on your keyboard, and the steps to solving the problem.

These error messages vary depending on the control system, so you can skip to whichever one you have installed on your spa by clicking on these links:

This list is still evolving and all messages may not be listed. Do not hesitate to refer to the manufacturer's user manual, or to contact us if you have any questions.

Depending on the configuration of your control box, the "5555" code may be required to change the number of phases or the input current (in.k500 with version 15.00 and higher and in.k800), or to modify the low-level number (in.k1000 et in.k1001).

in.xm et in.xm2 control systems

An error code indicates a system failure or a problem which needs to be addressed before the spa can function properly. When displaying error codes, both the device ID and the related error code are displayed together. If there is more than one active error, the one with the highest priority is displayed. If problems are found on several devices, the order of priority as follows:

1. “SP” messages for problems with the control system itself
2. "RH" messages for problems with the remote heater
3. "P1", "P2" etc. messages, for other 230V equipment, such as pumps
4. All other types of error messages

Error message Meaning Solution
SP - Hr An internal hardware error has been detected in in.xm or in.xm2 Restart the control system and start and stop all pumps and blowers.
If the error reappears, replace the control system.
SP - Br The chosen input current rating is lower than the sum of current for all pumps.
  • Increase in.xm or in.xm2 current rating and breaker setting.
  • Increase breaker size and manufacturer's cable gauge or reduce pump size.
SP-Br is not considered an error code, so it doesn’t trigger the service icon to appear on the display. Although SP-Br should be considered more as a warning, it won’t allow the heater or any other accessory to come on if the available amperage is not sufficient for the requirements.
SP - In The input voltage is too low. There is either a problem with the terminal connections or with the cable. Check the input terminal connections to make sure they are correctly wired and tightened (see connection section)
Have a certified electrician verify the quality of the power lines.
You should have 240 V between L1 and L2 and 120 V between each line and neutral.
SP - F1 F1 fuse is blown. Problem with the fan, blower, circulation pump, or fiber optic

Replace the blown F1 fuse with an identically rated replacement (SC-20, SC-25, etc.)
If the new fuse blows, disconnect the fan, blower, circulation pump and fiber optic.
Replace the fuse and reconnect all components, one at a time, until fuse blows.
Replace the component that caused the fuse to blow.

SP - F2 F2 fuse is blown. Problem with pump 2, pump 3 or a blower of more than 1100 W Replace the blown F2 fuse with an identically rated replacement (SC-20, SC-25, etc.)
If the new fuse blows, disconnect pump 2, pump 3 and blower.
Replace the fuse and reconnect all components, one at a time, until the fuse blows.
Replace component that caused the fuse to blow
SP - F3 F3 fuse is blown. Likely a problem with Pump 1 Replace the blown F3 fuse with an identically rated replacement (SC-20, SC-25, etc.)
If the new fuse blows, replace pump 1.
SP - OT Temperature inside the spa skirt is too high, causing the internal temperature in the in.xm™ to increase above normal limits (overheat condition). Remove the spa skirt and let the system cool down.
A breaker reset may be required to clear error
SP - OH The system detects spa water temperature exceeding 112°F (44.4°) (overheat condition). Remove the spa cover and let the spa cool down.
Add cold water and lower the filter cycle.
If the water cools down, the error will reset itself once the temperature is in the normal range.
If error persists, measure the temperature with a digital thermometer and compare its reading with temperature on the display. If the temperature reading is different, replace in.therm.
If the problem persists, replace the system.
Fr - Er
in.xm2
The input frequency (50/60 Hz) is out of range. Did this error show up from the very first power-up of the in.xm2? If so, have a certified electrician to verify the quality of the power line.
rH - Hr A hardware error was detected in in.therm (related to the electronic circuit only). Reset the main breaker and make sure the heater restarts by changing set point and turning every output (the pumps) on and off.
If the problem isn’t corrected, replace in.therm.
rH - nH A "no heat" issue is detected. Verify if the in.therm is properly connected. (You should hear a click!)
Reset the main breaker.
Measure the voltage directly on the Di connector (see p.28 of your techbook)
If you don't get a proper voltage reading, reset the main breaker.
If you get an appropriate voltage reading, replace in.therm.
rH - nF This code is displayed when a “no flow” condition is detected by in.therm. Make sure the water valves are open and that the water level is high enough.
Check and clean filters.
Make sure there are no air locks (or that no object obstructs the passage of water in the in.therm™ channel). Pumps may make strange noises and error messages such as “P1 ER” could appear. Follow air lock procedure to clear them.
Make sure that the pump associated to the heater (Pump #1) is running by pressing the P1 key.
If “P1 ER” appears on display, go to the pump 1 error section and follow the procedure.
rH - nC Communication problem between in.xm or in.xm2 and in.therm. Make sure remote heater cables are connected properly and that none of the cable connector pins are bent.
If the problem persists, either the control system or the in.therm may need to be replaced (both parts must be returned since either part could be defective).
rH - HL High Limit hardware circuit tripped.

There are 2 possible causes:
The heater was previously stored in a very hot location prior to installation and there is no water yet in its tube to cool it down: use a hose to cool down the interior of the tube.
External ambient temperature is high enough to heat the water, even though the pumps are off: add cold water to the spa and let the heater cool down. Reset the control system using the current breaker.

rH - Pr The system detects a problem with the regulation sensor. The system is constantly verifying if temperature sensor readings are within normal limits. This error message will clear when the condition that triggered the event is no longer present: reset the breaker.
If the problem persists, replace the in.therm.
rH - Id The system detects a mismatch between the control system and the in.therm heater. The North American version of the control systems can only be connected with the North American version of the in.therm heater. The same applies to the European versions.
The RH-ID message indicates that the European version of the in.therm heater (in.therm CE) has been connected to the North-American version of the in.xm/xm2 control system or vice versa.
To correct the situation, replace the North American equipment with its European equivalent.
Sc - Er System learning error. Every time a low-level option is changed, the system must learn the currents associated with each output/load. During this learning process, any device connected to OUT8 (direct output, no relay) must be disconnected (or off). If not, the system will report this error. Once the load is correctly disconnected, press any key to reset the learning process. Once the learning is finished, reconnect the devices to OUT8.
AO - H
in.xm2
The in.xm2’s internal temperature is > 90°C. At this stage, only the light output is disabled. However, if the in.xm2's internal temperature rises above 100°C, nothing will work. This error will clear when the system cools back down again. Open the spa cladding to help it cool down faster.
Hr A hardware error was detected in the in.therm or the in.xm/xm2 system. Add cold water to the spa and let the heater cool down. Disconnect the device(s) from the OUT8 (direct output, no relay) and reset the control system by turning the breaker off then on again. If the problem still persists, replace the in.xm/xm2 pack. If not, reconnect the device(s) in OUT8 and reset the system again. If the error comes back, replace the in.therm.
Pr - r

Temperature sensor defective. Contact us
P1 - Er System hasn’t detected any current change when turning pump 1 on or off.

Make sure pump 1 is properly connected (when connecting the plug, you should hear it click). Manually change the output status (on/off) on pump 1 and cycle through all possible states (i.e. low, high, off).
Reset the control system by pressing Select key twice.
If the error does not clear, the problem is most likely with Pump 1. It will need to be replaced.
Once pump 1 is replaced, the system must go through a new learning routine.

P2 - Er System hasn’t detected any current change when turning pump 2 on or off.

Make sure pump 2 is connected properly.

Manually change the output status (on/off) on pump 2 and cycle through all possible states (i.e. low and high speeds). Reset the control system.

If the error does not clear, the problem is probably with pump 2. It will need to be replaced.

Once pump 2 is replaced, the system must go through a new learning routine.

P3 - Er
P4 - Er
P5 - Er
System hasn’t detected any current change when turning Pump 3, Pump 4 or Pump 5 on or off.

Make sure the pump is connected properly.

Manually change the output status (on/off) of the Pump.

Reset the control system.

If the error does not clear, the problem is probably with the pump. It will need to be replaced.

Once the pump is replaced, the system must go through a new learning routine.

CP - Er Circulation pump not responding.

Make sure the circulation pump is connected properly.

Manually change the output status by changing the set point.

Reset the control system.

If the error does not clear, the problem is probably with the circulation pump. It will need to be replaced.

Once the pump is replaced, the system must go through a new learning routine (see page 15).

BL - Er Blower not responding.

Make sure the blower is connected properly.

Manually change the output status (on/off) on the blower.

Reset the control system.

If the error does not clear, the problem is probably with the blower, it will need to be replaced. Once the blower is replaced, the system must go through a new learning routine.

Fn - Er Fan not responding

Make sure the fan is properly connected.

Manually change the output status (on/off) on the fan.

Reset the control system.

If the error does not clear, the problem is probably with the fan. It will need to be replaced.

Once the fan is replaced, the system must go through a new learning routine.

Replace the ozonator with the fan.


in.xe, in.yj, in.ye and in.yt control systems

The error code and the water temperature alternate on the display of your keypad. The error messages listed below display on the LCD and LED keypads. If your spa is has a color keypad, please refer to your techbook for more information on error messages.

Error message Meaning Corrective actions
Hr An internal error with the system hardware has been detected. First, restart the spa system, then, start and stop all pumps and blowers.
If the error comes back, replace the control system.
HL The water temperature in the water heater has reached 119°F (48°C).
DO NOT ENTER THE SPA

Prr The system detects a problem with the regulation sensor. The system constantly verifies if the temperatures read by the sensor are within the normal limits. See below.
FLO The system has detected no water flow during the main pump operation. See below.
UPL No low-level configuration is present in the control system memory, insert a valid in.stik to program the control unit. Insert a valid in.stik to program the low-level configurations in the control unit. Without them, the system cannot function.
AOH The temperature inside the spa skirt is too high and causes an increase of the internal temperature of the control system above normal limits. Remove the spa skirt and let the water temperature cool down until the error disappears.
Replace the control system if the problem persists.
OH The spa water has reached 108°F (42°C).
DO NOT ENTER THE SPA

The corrective actions of some error messages displayed on your keyboard may differ depending on your control system. We have listed them below.

HL: The water temperature in the water heater has reached 119°F (48°C).
DO NOT ENTER THE SPA. Follow these instructions carefully, as the outside of the heater may be very hot. Measure the water temperature with a digital thermometer and compare the measured temperature with the one displayed on the keypad.

If the measured temperature is below 119°F (48°C) and the water heater’s body is not hot in.yj Verify that the heat.wav low voltage cable is correctly plugged into the sensor connector (P1).

Verify that the regulation and overheat sensors are plugged in correctly.
Turn the spa off and turn it back on to reinitialise the system.
If HL error persists replace the water heater.
If HL error persists replace the control system.
If the measured temperature is 119°F (48°C) or above and does not correspond to the one displayed on the keypad in.yj Verify that the heat.wav low voltage cable is correctly plugged into the sensor connector (P1).

Verify that the regulation and overheat captor are plugged in correctly.
If the cable is plugged in correctly, replace the water heater.
Turn the spa off and turn it back on to reinitialise the system.
If HL error persists replace the control system.

If the measured temperature is 119°F (48°C) or above and the exterior temperature is very high in.yj

Take off the spa cover (even for the night).
Start the blowers if the spa has any.
Wait until the spa cools down (add cold water if needed).
Turn the spa off and back on again to reinitialise the system.
If the measured temperature is 119°F (48°C) or above and the exterior temperature is not the cause: in.yj

in.yt
in.xe

Set the set value to a temperature lower than the actual water temperature. The water heater indicator should turn off.
Use the voltmeter on the water heater’s terminal block to measure the tension between the line (L1) and the ground.
If you measure 120 V or 240 V, replace the control system.
If you do not measure 120 V or 240 V, the pump may be heating the water excessively during the filtration cycle. Reduce the length of the filtration cycle.
Turn the spa off and turn it back on.

Prr: Problem with the regulation sensor.

in.yj Verify that the heat.wav low voltage cable is correctly plugged into the sensor connector (P1).
If the error persists replace the water heater.
If the error still persists replace the control system

Verify that the regulation and overheat captor sensor (situated over the heater) are plugged in correctly.
Replace the water heater if the problem persists.
Replace the control system if the problem still persists.

FLO: The system has detected no water flow during the main pumps operation.
Ensure that the selected low-level is compatible with your spa’s material. Verify that the pump linked to the heating is configured correctly.

Ensure that the water circulation valves are open and that the water level is high enough.
Verify that nothing is blocking the filter.
Ensure that the flow is sufficient (minimum 68 LPM/ 18 GPM).
in.yj Ensure that no air bubbles are trapped in the plumbing circuits of the device (the pumps may be making abnormal sounds). If there are bubbles, start the pump, slowly unscrew one of the union nuts to free the air trapped in the plumbing. Tighten the nut back on once the air is out.

Ensure that the pump linked to the water heater (main pump) is running.
For in.yj control systems, verify that the water heater’s low voltage cable is linked correctly to the sensor connector (P1).
in.xe For the in.ye, in.yt and in.xe control systems, ensure that the in.flo cable (located over the water heater) is plugged in correctly.
If the problem persists, replace the water heater.
If the problem still persists, replace the control system

OH: The spas water temperature has reached 108°F (42°C).
Measure the water temperature with a digital thermometer and compare the measured temperature with the one displayed on the keypad.

If the measured temperature is different from the one displayed on the keypad (inferior to 108°F / 42°C) Turn the spa off and turn it back on to restart the system.
For in.yj-re control system, if the error continues, replace the sensor.
For in.yj, in.ye, in.yt and in.xe control systems, if the error continues, replace the water heater.
If error still continues, replace the control system.
If the measured temperature corresponds (superior to 108°F / 42°C) and the exterior temperature is high Remove the spa cover and let the spa cool down.
Add cold water and reduce the filtration cycle length.
If error still continues, replace the control system.
If the measured temperature corresponds (superior to 108°F / 42°C) and the exterior temperature is not high Set the set value to a temperature below that of the spa water. The keypad’s water heater indicator should turn off.
Turn off all pumps*. If one of the pumps is still running, replace the control system.
The pump may be excessively heating the water during the filtration cycle. Reduce filtration cycle length.
* The main pump may not turn off if you are currently running a filtration cycle.
